Without further ado, let’s jump right into these 2 dry shampoos here.

According to the Watsons Singapore website (for COLAB):

• Contains a revolutionary weightless, invisible formula.
• Absorbs oil & refreshes roots with a residue-free, lightweight finish.
• Gives hair an instant boost & revitalise.
• Help keep hair clean for longer time.
• Leaves a fabulous veil of fashion fragrance.
• Perfect for all hair types.Watsons Singapore

What made me buy this then, was due to a 50% off sale going on. So I got this for S$6.95 instead.

The Batiste Dry Shampoo wasn’t on sale and so I decided to try the COLAB one. I have gone through probably 4 of the Batiste Dry Shampoos and thought it was a nice time to try something different as well.

According to the Batiste official website:

Strike a pose with Batiste Mamba. Bursting with glamour, sass and fruitful fragrance, get ready to strut your stuff and make every day your runway.

Application

COLAB and Batiste have similar spray strength.

However, in terms of usage, COLAB is easier to use since it is invisible. You can just spray and massage your scalp without worries of any remaining white residue.

Batiste, on the other hand, sprays out white powder (unless you use the ones for Brunettes, which will be dark brown) and has to be properly massaged to avoid white residue left on your hair.

The application is as simple as this but with regards to longevity and the feeling, it’ll be summarised below.

Yes & No

Longevity of oil-free hair:

  • Batiste > COLAB – Batiste actually makes my hair stay matte for a longer period than COLAB

Amount needed each use:

  • Batiste > COLAB – for COLAB, as I’ve said just right above, it doesn’t give you instant refresh. So you would start to use a lot at one go because you won’t feel the difference yet. I used up my COLAB dry shampoo faster than the Batiste dry shampoo.

Ease of usage:

  • COLAB > Batiste – Due to the reasons stated in my ‘Applications’ criteria.

Texture of hair after use:

  • COLAB > Batiste – If you’ve used Batiste before, you might experience this. I realised after a couple of hours with Batiste, my hair starts to flake in balls or something. Especially when I’m combing my hair with my fingers, I can feel the powder in really tiny ball shapes and it doesn’t feel and look good. COLAB on the other hand, does not ball up. It also doesn’t give you instant refresh somehow. I feel like the product really works slightly 30min after application, not immediately like Batiste. It feels slightly more natural and less drying than the Batiste one.

Am I Repurchasing?

I will most probably repurchase COLAB’s one from now on, until I find something better. It is invisible and does a moderately decent job of oil control.

Although not as good as Batiste, I really disliked the dry and ball-y texture I got from Batiste.

COLAB Rating:

3.5 out of 5

Batiste Rating:

2.5 out of 5

Do you use dry shampoos? What are your favourites?

I’m currently on a lookout for one, so let me know if you know other brands!
