Review | Romand Zero Matte Cushion – Beige 23

Romand Zero Matte Cushion Featured

Hey! It’s finally the month of December.

Time is passing so fast, don’t you think? It felt like just 3 or 4 months ago that it was January.

2019 has been a quick one for me. I mostly worked at my office job and due to that, I really don’t quite remember much.

Also, since I’m an ambivert, I go on weekend hibernations after a five-day work week.

I rarely go out, and try to buy everything or meet friends on a Friday.

Weekends are just for me to laze and rest, that’s how I recharge (albeit still insufficient after working).

Without rambling too much about how 2019 has been for me, why not share how you felt about YOUR 2019? I’d love to hear other perspectives.

Putting this aside, let’s dive into my review, shall we?

Look & Feel

Romand Zero Matte Cushion Product

This Zero Matte Cushion was one that I really wanted to try but after getting another liquid foundation (The Face Shop’s ink lasting foundation), I had to seriously contemplate on purchasing it.

And then, out of nowhere, something happened.

Being a sales-loving person (type who loves sales – I mean, who doesn’t?!), I saw my local Guardian selling this at S$23!

It was really a steal as I believe it retails for S$38.90.

There isn’t any refill but I wasn’t salty since it’s $23 😀

However, a black ruby cell puff was provided (as usual). It was a pretty good makeup puff, and did not suck up much of the product at all.

Application

Romand Zero Matte Cushion Application

Application went seamlessly. I got the colour beige 23 and it suits my skin tone and shade. You can check out my other previously used foundation shades in my blog’s side profile.

Natural coverage

With the sponge, I could fill up the crevices on the sides of my nose, my pores and yeah my bare-ness. It’s really natural if you use it with a light hand.

Definitely possible to layer but not recommended if you have dry skin. Without a setting powder, it will look semi-matte with a healthy (and not overpowering) glow.

You’ll need some tissue dabs to remove some oil after a 3 – 4 hour mark (for oily / oily combo skin types) depending on your country’s weather and humidity.

With setting powder, you may get away with ~6 hours without blotting.

The best part – how long lasting this foundation was.

Sure, it wears off but it does so gracefully and not in weird patches.

P.S. I do rub my eye area from time to time and I do notice my dark eye circle showing a little – not smudge proof.

At the end of the day, I still see my flaws mostly covered. The ones that fail on the coverage are my active pimples or dry skins haha.

But pores, dark spots and some redness? Check!

Here’s some before and after photos for your review:

It also feels so light that I don’t feel weighed down after a long day.

Though ironically, the first thing I do once I get home is still to remove my 12-hour makeup face before anything.

Never experienced any irritation from it myself. I do like this (not so much the price tag that came along with it).

Yes

  • Lightweight
  • Not irritating to my skin
  • Long lasting
  • Colour isn’t too grey/yellow/pink
  • Secure packaging

No

  • Not smudge-proof
  • No refills, heavy price tag to me for one drugstore cushion
  • Colour range is limited – Pure, Natural & Beige

Am I Repurchasing?

Well, maybe when there is a sale. It isn’t an IT product for me. Still able to substitute but I won’t deny that it’s a great product.

I would however, want to try their other lip products. I’ve got the Juicy Lasting Tint in #figfig (love how natural and versatile it is) and want to try their Zero Velvet Tints!

That’s all for me this week. Hope my review has been helpful! Feel free to drop some questions if you have, and I’ll try my best to answer them! 🙂
