With only 2 Wednesdays left this year, I’ve decided to post a review of this although it’s been out for quite a while (more than a year haha).
I thought there might still be people pondering on this product or perhaps, finding a suitable sunscreen for their skin type.
Hence, I still went ahead with this post! Hope you don’t mind! 🙂
This is a chemical sunscreen that protects your skin from UV rays and also promises to improve wrinkles and uneven skin tone, sort of a 3-in-1 sunscreen.

Look & Feel
This came in a simple white squeeze tube bottle that actually never needed me to squeeze.
TIP!
Due to the fact that this sunscreen is more watery, I usually open it upside down.
If I open it while the cap is facing down, the product actually spills into the cap when I open it.
Also, it’s been a couple of months since I got this and I wasn’t expecting the silver printing to fade away, sorry if it looks very used.
Despite this being a chemical sunscreen, Klairs has claimed that their UV Essence is photostable, meaning that the protection doesn’t degrade when the UV rays hit the skin.
However, by covering a broad spectrum of UVA and UVB rays, people usually experience irritation of some kind from the ingredients (especially those who have skin sensitivity). This is the reason why I stopped using chemical sunscreen previously.
P.S. Beet The Sun is also a chemical sunscreen.

I believe that I do have a slight sensitive and oily combo skin, but this product has not broken me out or irritated my skin before, thankfully.
Klairs did say that it can even be used by all skin types even those with sensitive skin. (And again, what works for me may not work for you, so do see how each sunscreen works with your skin)
Application
This was very similar to KraveBeauty’s Beet The Sun in terms of just colour (not texture).
Slightly yellow-white and comes out looking a little thick but the moment you start blending, it becomes a watery gel-like consistency.
Although it doesn’t leave a white cast, it takes a while to blend.
By a while, I mean about 40 seconds? Is that long for you?
Here’s a video of the application:
Klairs do recommend you to apply it 15 min before any sun exposure and to reapply every 3 hours when exposed to sunlight.
I believe the most important thing to me for a sunscreen, would be the finish.
I like this finish because it is very versatile.
This did not ball up under foundation for me, and I do feel like it helps the makeup last a little.
When I wear it on its own, it looks glowy at first and slowly dries to a natural finish, almost like my skin but not oily (lmao). I don’t even feel it on my skin!
Plus, with 80ml, I like that it is a larger size than normal sunscreens that are around 50-60ml.
Anyway, there isn’t any strong scent. If I were to point out any, it would be a slight citrusy-sunscreen scent.
Checking the ingredients list again, there is Orange oil stated as the last ingredient.

Am I Repurchasing?
Yeah, I just might! I do like this on my oily combo skin. It has never given me any problems and my mother uses it fine too.
Since it comes in a good size, I don’t feel too much of a pain when my mom uses it with me compared to a 50ml sized sunscreen haha.
Since I have tried both KraveBeauty and Klairs’ chemical sunscreens this year, and I enjoy both. But if I have to choose, Klairs is better for me on days when I’m not wearing foundation.
KraveBeauty’s sunscreen is a good foundation for my semi matte foundations as it is more glowy.
Depending on your finish preferences, it could be different!
