Review | Benton Goodbye Redness Centella Gel

Goodbye Redness Centella Gel Featured

How have you guys been greeting the new year?

I’ve been doing fine so far, trying to keep things organised and be more motivated haha.

Anyway, today’s product is provided by Benton Cosmetics themselves because I participated in their Review Event and got chosen to review this particular product!

Disclaimer: I was provided the product in exchange for an honest review and I’m not paid to say whatever I do in this blog post or anywhere else written by me.

I decided to participate in this review event because I actually get red and flushed really easily and the Goodbye Redness part actually called out to me! Let’s see how this goes 🙂

What: Benton Goodbye Redness Centella Gel

This picture taken from Benton Cosmetics basically sums up what this Centella Gel can do for you.

The Goodbye Redness Centella Gel also claims to have a pH level of 6, which is mildly acidic and it’s our skin’s pH level when it’s in its healthiest state.

Look & Feel

Goodbye Redness Centella Gel Product
Cute pimple (lol) on the tube looking shocked hahaha.

This product comes in a 100g tube and I find that very handy as opposed to one in jars.

It’s an opaque tube though, so you can’t see how much you have left. Apart from that, the product has to be used up in 6 months.

Information in both English and Korean on the box.

Application

The Goodbye Redness Centella Gel is a colourless, fully hydrating and nourishing soothing gel. Due to the fact that it’s a oil-free gel, even oily skin people can use this without feeling heavy on the skin.

You can see that it gives a hydrated boost to your skin lightly with its gel properties.

However, do follow up with a moisturiser of your choice because this wasn’t enough for my skin as a last step.

They also stated to follow up with a moisturiser and an eye cream.

I’ve used this day and night, since 20 December 2018 and it’s been 20 days since I’ve incorporated this into my routine.

My routine goes something like this:

Mamonde Rose Water Toner (reviewed) > This product > Innisfree Jeju Orchid Enriched Cream > Innisfree Jeju Orchid Eye Cream

Pretty simple right!

My right cheek for reference.

It didn’t exactly help me bid redness goodbye forever. Although I did hope it would haha.

However, it works the way Centella Asiatica is suppose to work.

Its main ingredient IS Centella Asiatica and this ingredient is also known as tiger grass as it is said tigers lie down on the Centella Asiatica grass after getting wounded and their wounds would heal after being in contact with the grass. It is also known that the herb is used to cure skin diseases, used as remedies and medicinal plants in parts of India!

Centella Asiatica is used as the main ingredient in many ointments because of its famous skin soothing and healing properties.

The components of this ingredient includes Madecassoid, Madecassic Acid, Asiaticoside and Asiati Acid, commonly used in cosmetics, and are effective for improving skin’s health and the protection of the skin.

Remember that this product has 80% of eco-friendly Centella Asiatica harvested from Korea so that’s a pretty big amount that’s directed to soothing your redness.

I have used it on an enraged pimple (that I popped) before and by night time, it really went down and wasn’t as bumpy as before.

In the parcel that Benton sent, was a Goodbye Redness Centella Mask Pack and I used it yesterday.

Benton Goodbye Redness Centella Gel Mask

I like the fit and feel of the mask. I think I even had it on a little past the 20-minute time limit but it didn’t feel drying.

Both of the products smell the same. They have no fragrance but it smells a little like water to me LOL.

This Centella Gel product provided me with the extra hydration that my toner can’t give. It felt like I had this glow whenever I used it.

Despite its claims to reduce redness from skin concerns such as irritated skin, blemishes and uneven skin tone, it only felt temporary for me.

After using this product, the redness around my inner cheeks and nose did reduce a little but possibly due to the humidity and heat in my country (Singapore), I get flushed again easily.

This definitely do work for when I have active pimples or itchy irritation on my skin which happens randomly.

The itchy irritation disappeared soon after I applied this on my skin.

Yes

  • It does work temporarily to provide relief to skin concerns
  • Lightweight and oil-free
  • Hydrating gel formula
  • Didn’t irritate my skin
  • Reduced pimple redness and size
  • Free from artificial fragrance, volatile alcohol, PEGs and other harmful ingredients

No

  • It must be used up within 6 months (could be a con for some of you)
  • Does not remove redness (such as flushed cheeks in humid weathers)
  • Might be expensive for some people (100g for 20 USD)

Am I Repurchasing?

This was gifted for reviewing purposes and I’m thankful to be chosen to review it. While I was expecting more from it, it does its job of reducing redness, and not the literal bidding goodbye to redness forever haha.

I guess I was really hoping that it’d help my inner cheeks and nose to stop flushing, but I realised that can’t be helped because it’s just my skin flushing from weather and heat.

  2. Hi Layna
Thank you for the great in-depth review. I used this product for the first time yesterday. I suffer from severe inflammatory rosacea with pustules. So I’m also hoping this time this will be the one product that will show results, as I have tried so many ( trying to avoid taking toxic antibiotics, but my rosacea has been getting steadily worse). Thank you for the tips and pics, it’s been very helpful and reassuring. Well done on a great review!
